Karunamata ji
was born in the house of moneylender Ratiram ji of Kevata Dabri. Apart from
being cultured, she was skilled in household work, intelligent and
self-respecting. Karunamata was married to Gurugosai Agamdas ji, the great
grandson of revered Guru Ghasidas ji, in 1935.
After the departure of Gurugosai Agamdas ji (MP) to Satlok,
Rajarajeshwari Karunamata remained engrossed in social work.In India, women of
Satnami community have had equal rights as men since before independence.
Rajarajeshwari Karunamata has played an important role in the upliftment of
women in the society by raising her voice for the respect and self-respect of
women by describing men and women as two wheels of the chariot of life in
Satnamdharma sabhas. To stop wasteful expenditure in the society, Mata Ji
started mass ideal marriages in Tapobhoomi Girodpuri, where under the guidance
of Mata Ji, thousands of social marriages were conducted with great simplicity,
which continues even today. Today, people of all religions and sects are saving
time and money by organizing mass ideal marriages. On August 31, 2006, Mother
merged into the five elements. Rajarajeshwari Karunamata ji's entire life was
dedicated to social reform, human welfare, unity in society and Satnam Dharma.
In order to keep intact the uniqueness of the traditional art and culture of
cotton textile production in the field of handloom, the Government of
Chhattisgarh has established the state level "Rajarajeshwari Karunamata
Hathkardha Proutsahan Award" in her memory.
