Dr. Susmita Basu Majumdar, University of Calcutta lectured in a lecture program organized on the ancient coins of Chhattisgarh in the context of ancient Indian coins in the Sanskriti Bhavan auditorium by Directorate of Culture and Archeology. Dr. Majumdar discussed in detail the characteristics of ancient Kushans and other local coins derived from the recent excavations of Tarighat, Jamrao and Rewa in Chhattisgarh and also expected Chhattisgarh to be an ancient corridor like Malwa. He also informed about other recorded material which came to light from the above mentioned places for the study of history. On this occasion, Director Shri Anil Kumar Sahu, Superintendent Archivist in charge of Archaeological Survey of India, Raipur Division, Dr. Uday Anand Shastri, including faculty/researchers, departmental officers and employees of the university/college were present.
